Days between two dates
Pick two dates and get the exact count of days between them, broken down into weeks, a calendar years-months-days difference, and a weekday-only count for business-day estimates. Leap years are handled by real calendar arithmetic, not a 365-day approximation. The convention matches other duration calculators: the end date is included, the start date is not.
Common questions
- Is the end date included in the count?
- Yes. The count excludes the start date and includes the end date, so Monday to Friday of the same week is 4 days. If you need both endpoints counted (common for deadlines phrased as “inclusive”), add 1.
- How are weekdays counted?
- The weekday figure counts Mondays through Fridays among the same days as the total, ignoring public holidays, since parsetime doesn't guess your country's calendar. For a rough business-day figure it's exact; subtract any holidays in your window.
- Why does the years-months-days breakdown look different from the day count?
- Months have different lengths, so “1 month and 14 days” is a calendar statement, not a fixed number of days. The day count is exact; the breakdown answers the “how long in human terms” version of the question.
- Does it handle leap years?
- Yes. The arithmetic runs on the real proleptic Gregorian calendar, so February 29 exists in 2028 but not 2026, and a span across a leap day is one day longer than the same span a year earlier.
